The nomenclature dates from the days when spectra were recorded on strips of photographic film, and such intense absorption peaks showed up as a heavily exposed line on the developed film. Both the inner-sphere (IS) and outer-sphere (OS) complexes of Cs(+) were observed through EXAFS at a molecular scale. The linear correlation between log (RIP/CEC) and the ratio of the coordination number (CN) of IS (=CNIS) and OS (=CNOS) complexes noted as CNIS/(CNIS + CNOS) suggested that the ratio of CN is very sensitive to Cs(+) adsorption species with variable RIP and CEC. hiXAS offers a complete lab-based solution for Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) and X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES) measurements. In a compact footprint, it integrates x-ray tube source, high-resolution spectrometer, and hybrid detector together with a software suite to control instrument functions and analyze data. Highly monodispersed CuO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized via continuous hydrothermal flow synthesis (CHFS) and then tested as catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation. The catalytic behavior of unsupported 11 nm sized nanoparticles from the same batch was characterized by diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS), extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), X … ExaFS.

XAFS: Wavelet Transforms for XAFS¶. Wavelet transforms extend Fourier transforms, effectively separating contributions of a waveform into both time and frequency (or, for EXAFS, \(k\) and \(R\)).
